This locus was supposed to code for one form of 4-beta-galactosyltransferase (GGTB1; Humphreys-Beher-1986). However, the consequent isolation of antibodies, sequenizing of cDNA clone, and analysis of the encoded product revealed that the corresponding peptide did not have an enzymatic activity but seemed to participate in 4-beta-galactosyltransferase activation (Humphreys-Beher-1989)." |
